finally! finished curtains
not like y'all don't already know, having already sneaked a peek of my photos on flickr.
anyway, here is our re-painted dining room with the curtains i made. (click on the photo for a better view.) it's my first attempt at curtains. i think you can see in the photo below that they have cute black cats on them. travis and i walked around the fabric store for a while and weren't really getting excited about anything, but then as soon as we saw this fabric, we both got really stoked about it.
i made the curtains with a white backing so that they'd be less translucent and also so that they'd look good from outside. as you can see, the outsides of the curtains are extremely visible from our side yard and from our neighbors' house. i bet the neighbors are glad we finally have curtains on this window -- it's been wide open for a couple of weeks now!
we ended up using a lighter shade of paint than we first considered, because we thought this shade would look better with the chairs and kitchen appliances, which are sort of a typical 70's avocado green.
the table and chair set was a gift from trav's parents. it has a built-in center leaf, which is extended in the picture because i needed the big surface for sewing. normally, we use it without the leaves. (the set also came with another chair, which we keep in the office unless we need it.)

very nice (don't mind if I say it twice!) and HA, I just noticed that we all responded to three different pictures!
on flickr, mishka said:
"OMG - those are cats! Awesome!"
And she still thinks they're awesome.
i also said i loved the table on flickr, but i'll say it again,i love it and your curtains too! J wants us to buy a table and chair set like this for our kitchen, but we have to wait until we get some 'celebration gift' money...

fine, i guess i'm joining flickr now
I really like the table and the pain, too bad the curbie lamp isn't really visible. Good job with the curtains and the crazy little black cats. I'm sure that your neighbors had no problem with you not having curtains - it's like free tv, especially if they can bug the place, too.
How do I find you on Flickr?
i have a link on my other blog, i guess i should put one here too. it's www.flickr.com/photos/jen_in_md.
tag! You're it!
Great curtains, I love the color of the room too! It looks great. I'm off to check out the flickr photos now!
i absolutely love the colour of the paint you chose. and i think i said this awhile back but i'm in love with your hardwood floors! we have hardwood too but yours look to be in amazing condition and the colour is so warm. ps. super job on the curtains too! they're cute!
